I know for a fact that my Wal-Mart gives lots of money to local schools and organizations, as well as college scholarships to local students. Granted, their "global conscience" may be less than perfect, but you are going to find that that this will be true for almost every big company. These stores are successful because they appeal to the lowest common denominator in the same way that FOX TV does. There is a large market for this out there, and in the long run it becomes entrenched in society as the norm. People who might otherwise be better get sucked in. In the big picture, it has a negative effect on society. I also agree with you tough, that bashing them is foolish and a waste of time, as they aren't going anywhere. I also admit that I shop at these stores myself, so I'm no better than anyone else. I just don't feel good about it. I have been using Autocad since 1993, so that is my current frame of reference. How do you all set up the drawings with plotting as the final product? OK, this is what I mean. In ACAD you have paperspace and then you can set up your different pages in separate tabs. Each tab has a different plate. Each plate can be a different scale and different stuff in it. One can have the GP, one the Section, one elevations, etc. What is the equivalent in Vectorworks? I can't seem to figure out what seems to be an easy problem. Is it done using the Layer function? Do you draw everything on your page layout and then turn layers on and off? For some reason I find this very confusing. It must be too simple. I draw everything first and then copy and lay it out in the drawings. Can I still work this way? Absolutely! I work in VW in a way that is very similar to what you're used to doing. First thing, change your thinking slightly. For the sake of learning: VW Classes = AC Layers VW Classes = separate sheets of paper w. (potentially) different scales. This may be a bit over-simplified, but this mindset has helped me to make the transition. Second, I do ALL of my actual drawing on one layer, called "DWG." Lighting, scenics, audio, video, etc. Third, I have separate layers that are [at] 1:1 scale for my title blocks, borders, notes, etc. Fourth: W. v11, you essentially have two options to do what you're wanting: In v9 (and 11), leaving the 1:1 layer visible, I can then create other layers [at] the desired scales and place Layer Links on them (that link back to the DWG layer). One can have multiple LLs on a final plate - at different scales, views, and rendering methods (wireframe, hidden line, shaded, etc.). In v11, the concept of viewports has been added. This allows one to work as above - but with the added benefits of the links being croppable and with differing class visibility settings. Shameless plug to follow... I don't care if it crt or led based as long as it is bright enough to operate in full daylight and is fairly self contained (we supply the source video). Any leads you might have would prove helpful.
