I'm thinking the best way for these comments to make that happen is put 'em on the list. This is straight-on, on-topic, and ignoring it is what got me my "fabulous" crew in Pasedena. I was once in the "war room" back stage at a convention. The walls were lined with TVs tuned to every bit of convention coverage. There were ASMs on headset to people on the convention floor saying something to the effect of "NBC is covering area 3, start the spontaneous sign waving rally". Make no mistake everything down to the tiniest detail is thought out. Just when I think I've seen it all, someone makes choices in the planning of these events that boggle the mind. The DNC "choose" Fleet center even though a brand new arena exists in Boston. I'm told that the ceiling had to be reinforced at Fleet just to handle the lighting grid load. Does anyone have details on this? Meanwhile in NY Madison Sq. Gardens does not have enough floor space to handle the delegates so they are building a false floor 9' high that extends into the seating area. I can only imagine that choices like these are politically motivated ( read favors to someone). I would love to see a bottom line budget estimate and the final bill. I make my living on projects like this, but you have to figure that these live shows are really designed to be seen on TV and could be done against green screens from sound stages across the country. There are a couple specifically live sound courses in the programme. One of the interesting things about Expression is the "externship" - a required number of practical hours put in outside of school before the degree is granted. With the externship, they will help place you where you're hoping to go. ie, someone hoping to pursue live sound could do their externship with a live sound contractor rather than a recording studio. Are there other programmes about like these? I thought expression was unique, but full sail seems to be very similar. -- Mat G.
