Okay, finally, 40 years later, get to buy some new lights. One of our vendors have given us a quote for L&E AQ61zm. I know it is pretty much a bomb proof instrumnet. However, what I don't like about it, is that i uses EHG lamps. Now then our circuits in our small theater are only 1.2K, so this still means one instrument per circuit. However, I know with some of the other newer instruments out there, such as source4s, you can get more light, with a small wattage of lamp. I know that a lot of people out there have AQ61s. I would like to keep them as zooms, since we do have multiple theaters, as well as need a lot of flexibility. So, any reviews of this instrument, or any other models. Bomb proof is definitely a plus. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 15:01:43 -0400 From: Stephen Litterst Subject: Re: reviews of L&Q AQ61zm and their 6" Fresnel. The FLK is a 575w lamp with a CC-8 filament. I've used them as replacements for FELs and EHGs with very good results. Another option is to consider the GLA/GLC range. Also 575 watts they utilise a C-13d filament that is remarkably similar to the filament used in Source4 lamps. I'm using the GLAs in my Altman 360Qs now and find the output quite satisfactory. I've been able to reproduce the problem and found that it occurs during certain songs. I'll have to check another computer to give you names. When I drop those songs, the burns complete. Unfortunately, I've yet to find out how to re-download a track from iTunes without paying a second time. I'm going to try burning with my wife's mac and see if I have the same trouble there. FWIW, I've been very disappointed with the assorted FLK series lamps in my Altman Shakespeares, though not as bad (stil bad though) in the 380Q's. VERY, VERY sensitive to shock. Have'nt tried the GLA/GLC yet Moving over to S4's as I find the general quality of the fixture superior as well as finding the HPL lamp more robust. Can't beat the 750w units !.
