The answer (which only requires algebra) is.... L= Total length of flooring r(o) = initial cylinder radius r(n) = final cylinder radius N = Total number of layers t = thickness of a layer r(n) = r(o) + [[sqr root of(( 4*pi*r(o) + t)^2 + 8*t*L)] - (4*pi*r(o) + t) all over 2] I can send this to anybody who wants it in a pdf, where the equation is actually legible...and she included the derivation... Ascii math is harder than ascii art! I have done it before with a combination of paint, joint compound, and sawdust but forget the ratios. It was right justified because the character set "CP1255" indicated a right-to-left character set (perhaps for Hebrew). It got through because the message was plain text, though it included this header setting the character set: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=CP1255 Noah -- | Noah Price | http://stagecraft.theprices.net/ | | Stagecraft Mailing List | stagecraft-web [at] theprices.net | ------------------------------ Message-ID: <41F602CC.8050108 [at] post.tau.ac.il> Date: Tue, 25 Jan 2005 10:26:52 +0200 From: Judy Subject: right justified message & digest > > >Did anyone else get kupfer's message right justified? When I got home late at night I got my email, and scrolled through the digest - and amen to whoever said it's like dropping in for a beer after work! I was not surprised to see myself called "kupfer" rather than Judy, since that happens when I use the university webmail program. But I was very surprised to see the strange layout. I send plenty of mail from school and it hasn't happened before. If anybody has a clue I'd like to hear it too! Judy, at home now! ------------------------------ End of Stagecraft Digest #272 *****************************
